Sharp as Knives
Noah's nails are OUT OF CONTROL!!! Recently Matt and I have personally experienced the wrath of his little Edward Scissor hands. Matt's arms normally face the brunt of the attacks as Noah likes to grab while taking a bottle, since Matt wears short sleeves most days this is what is exposed thus harmed. My little boy is a snuggler, especially when he is tired. If he is up on my shoulder (normally after a bottle in an attempt to work out a man sized burp), he scratches the living Sh*t out of grabs my neck. Needless to say there has got to be some relief for all this pain. It would be one issue if it was just us, but the little guy has taken to his face! :( In the past two weeks he is waking with scratches of his own doing on his sweet little fat face and it makes me want to cry (actually I have cried over it let's just be honest!). His new habit is to rub at his face when he is waking up or going to sleep. This would be SO SIMPLE if only cutting nails on a three month old were easy. I have tried everything: awake after a bath, asleep, taking a bottle (read: Milk Coma) and the kid is NOT having it! He snatches those little hands from my grasp mid cut so fast sometimes I feel like I just make it worse by leaving jagged edges (EVEN WHEN HE IS ASLEEP!!! The kid is a ninja!) This morning he gave himself this gnarly gash right below his lip all the way down to his second chin. Any Mamas (or Daddys for that matter) have any advice on A. Cutting the nails and/or B. Keeping him from scratching himself (we'll work on others later!)?

Ahhh...hate the nails! I still cut Grace's when she is asleep. I get them right after she has had a bottle and is pretty much passed out. That is the only way. If she is still partially awake, she does the pull away thing also. I've gotten her to give me her hand while awake, but she'll let me do one and then run away.
ReplyDeleteGotta love it. Ha!
Nail file! I cut Ali's thumb the first time I tried to trim her nails--I never went near her with the clippers till after she was one! A nail file works great, use it at least twice a week with Liam :) Hope this helps!!
