When we got home Noah indeed had a fever, his very first actually! Even though we had a couple of stuffy noses and little coughs (allergies or some small virus) he has never had a fever. Needless to say we were concerned. Especially since there had been other minor "symptoms": ear pulling, a small cough (we attributed this to the stuffy, dry hotel room), a stuff/runny nose (see previous), crankypants and massive poopy diaps. He acquired a new "habit" over the weekend over what appeared to be running his tongue over his gums in his mouth. Because of this little tid bit we were hoping that Noah was FINALLY teething...we'd rather know now what we are in for than to experience this on one of our upcoming vacations!
The icing on the cake was when he started refusing food (insert deer in the headlights look). We hit him with a dose of tylenol in the hopes that his fever would break. He cuddled up with me on the couch all night until bed time and only took a small bottle, skipped his supper of solids. His fever broke right before bed time. But it spiked again in the middle of the night at one of his many wake ups. It had broken again when he woke up this morning. But he started running hot again around mid morning, so we decided better to be safe than sorry and officially rule out an ear infection.
The good news is we did a good job as parents and were correct that our boy is teething! :) However, we were given a preview of his 9-month check up that will need to discuss childhood obesity because our boy has jumped to the 85th percentile. (Preemie what!?!?!)
In all seriousness teething is the devil and I cannot wait for those pearly whites to break through!! Until then, let's reflect on happier times....
