I cannot believe our little boy is already a week old! As you may have read previously last week was a whirlwind of emotions and progress for our little Noah! So I thought I would give you a little update on me:
Weight: -15 pounds, when they say breast feeding helps you slim down quick they weren't joking. I am 5 pounds from prebaby weight and 15 more pounds from 1st trimester weight.
Boobs: Once I gave birth my boobs dropped two cup sizes so they were back to normal. Then my milk dropped! Holy Moly! So they are about the same as they were when I was pregnant.
Pain: Minor. My incision is healing up nicely. I have some minor pain and discomfort everyone and then, especially when I'm sitting on the toilet to pee or poo. But all in all I'm recovering quite quickly. The worst thing that happened to me personally was when the nurse removed my medicine bag. It was a bag that they put right below my belly but above my incision, it functions like an iv. So it wouldn't require a stitch upon removal. Dear Lord Jesus...apparently some glue got stuck on the little tube and OMG it hurt like a B* when the nurse attempted to pull it out. It bled a little and scabbed up...gross I know. Well the scab fell off yesterday and i peeled all the extra glue that was around the area off. Now it looks like there is a mosquito bite. Hopefully no big deal.
New Symptoms: Ever since I had Noah everything has pretty much disappeared in terms of the symptoms department, with the exception of a new little gem. My hands occasionally get a tingling feeling and numbness, especially at night. I looked it up and apparently its carpel tunnel, which is a side effect of pregnancy and sometimes ladies don't experience until post partum.
Breastfeeding/Pumping: You can just call me the Dairy Queen, my milk dropped on Tuesday and I have been gradually getting more and more milk at each pumping each day. Our freezer is slam full of milk...wow! And the hospital still has plenty because they use it to feed Noah his bottles. Noah has taken well to the change between boob and bottle. He took to the boob like a champ. Today he nursed at 11, 2 and 5 while we were at the hospital. He is so funny when he is ready to nurse, he does this really funny head bob and licks his little tongue around. At first he is hesitate and isn't sure about latching on then he opens wide and comes flying in like a TRex on the attack. He gets lazy and tired and just hangs out for a while. But he has been doing great, with little discomfort to Mama.
I have a check up with my OB next Wednesday to check on all my parts!
Noah Update: Our sweet boy's IV came out last night and today his feeding tube and oxygen mask were all removed. His bilirubin levels were a little high again today (Jaundice), so they put him back under the photo therapy lights. We are hoping that he will be off the lights and in a regular crib tomorrow. Then they will need to monitor all his levels and rates to make sure that he doesn't relapse and can maintain everything on his own....THEN HOME!!! We are hoping to have him home by Thursday or Friday!!! :)
